Modernization in the 1990s

By the 1990s, the initial technology had become dated compared to the fast-evolving global steel market. BSL began massive modernization campaigns, upgrading its blast furnaces and introducing continuous casting machines. These critical technological leaps lowered energy consumption, improved steel quality, and diversified the product portfolio, allowing Bokaro to remain highly profitable and a cornerstone of SAIL.
