Construction of the Garga Dam
History Series Part 7

Construction of the Garga Dam

Steelmaking is an incredibly water-intensive process. To ensure an uninterrupted massive water supply for both the Bokaro Steel Plant and the growing township, the construction of the Garga Dam was initiated on the Garga River. Built on the periphery of the city, overcoming complex regional geology, it became indispensable infrastructure. Today, it stands not just as an engineering feat but has also blossomed into a lush green scenic spot favored by residents for weekend picnics.
