Designing the First Planned City

Bokaro was meticulously planned from its inception. Long before the blast furnaces were fired up, the blueprint mapped out wide avenues, extensive tree plantations, and sector-wise grids. The city is divided into several sectors, each containing shopping complexes, health centers, and schools within walking distance. Influenced significantly by Soviet urban planning principles emphasizing egalitarian and functional living, the city provided its workforce an incredibly high standard of living, setting a benchmark for future industrial cities.
