Beyond the Plant: A Weekend in Bokaro for First-Time Visitors
Bokaro is best known nationally as the site of the Bokaro Steel Plant, one of SAIL's largest integrated steel plants. But the planned city around it — with its wide green avenues, lakes, and parks — is worth a couple of days on its own.
Day one: in the city
Start at City Park for boating and a stroll along the lake, then head to the Jawaharlal Nehru Biological Park, the largest zoological park in Jharkhand. In the evening, City Centre and Sector 4 market are good for street food and shopping. The Ayyappa Mandir, built in Kerala architectural style, is a peaceful stop if you're there around evening aarti.
Day two: out of the city
Use the second day for a day trip — Parasnath Hills for trekking and pilgrimage, or Patratu Valley for the scenic drive and dam views. Both are detailed on our Tours page along with distance and duration.
